Epic in scope, Thunderball's latest album Cinescope, is their most eclectic and accomplished musical outing yet. With a little help from sprightly songstress Miss Johnna M., soulful crooner Mustafa Akbar, reggae shamans See-I, and hip-hop legend and forefather Afrika Bambaataa, Thunderball bridge the gaps between electro, Bollywood soundtracks, hip-hop, drum&bass, soul, funk, reggae, jazz, and lounge, all awash in beautifully lush string orchestrations. Cinema for the ears, Cinescope is Thunderball's triumphant return.
Available now on 12" vinyl, the single "Strictly Rude Boy" features exclusive remixes by Fort Knox Five and Chris Joss. On the A side Fort Knox Five flips the script transforming the original into an upbeat ska meets electro smasher that would make Afrika Bambaata proud. Turn to the B side for Chris Joss's storming afro-beat rendition of "Thunder In The Jungle" featuring vocals by Bam himself! Also included is the slow burn reggae funk of the "Strictly Rude Boy" instrumental.
Their second Cinescope single, "Get Up With The Get Down" is slated for release later this summer, and includes remixes by ESL's own Nicola Conte and Ursula 1000. The original track, featuring vocals from Miss Johnna M. and Mustafa Akbar can be found on the Cinescope LP, available from all fine record stores now.
